About me
My name is Stephen Gibbs, I am 23 years old and live in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire and haved lived here since the age of 6.
I left The Astley Cooper School in 2001 and started working at my current employers BSI (British Standards Institution) where I work in the Construction and CPD department on the administration side of cement and concrete.
I’m interested in the usual things like football (Watford FC) and computer games which then got me interested in computers, through learning the basics my self by just playing around I decided I would like to learn more about computers, the ins and outs of how they work
Studies...
I decided to take a course at The Open University called Data, Information and Computing in which I studied how computers work under the surface and also learnt basic JavaScript.
From there I decided to design my own website, without any web design skills I sought after a book that was easy to follow and where you actually developed a website from start to finish and I came across a book by Sitepoint called Build your own website the right way using HTML & CSS.
I carried on studying with The Open University the following year, this time I studied Object-Oriented Programming with Java as I wanted to learn more about the programming side of software.
Whilst studying this course I also did tutorials on JavaScript, AJAX XML, PHP and ASP and although I’m not fluent in any of these languages yet there’s still plenty of time.
